As is customary for championship teams, the Mavs will be making their token appearance at the White House on Monday, but Delonte West won’t be in attendance.
Even though West wasn’t part of the LeBron Dream Killers last summer, the invitation to the White House is extended to the current team.
“That’s what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can’t go to the White House,” he said.
Turns out West failed a background check by the Secret Service. For what, you may ask? For being caught with a guitar case filled with three guns during a traffic stop in 2009.
Yup, that’ll do it.
From the Star-Telegram:
On July 21, 2010, West pleaded guilty to the weapons and traffic charges and was subsequently sentenced to unsupervised probation, psychological counseling, an electronic monitoring and 40 hours of community service.
Based on this, Maurice Clarett probably wouldn’t even be allowed in Washington, D.C.
West has dealt the news admirably. No, just kidding! He went on a Twitter rant (since deleted) aimed at the media.
